"Louisville, Kentucky, was named the top U.S. destination for 2013, following travel publisher Lonely Planet’s discussions among its group of U.S. editors and authors. While they tend to debate entries into each year’s Top 10 list, everyone agreed on Louisville, said Reid. While many horse lovers descend upon this Southern town the first Saturday in May to witness the Kentucky Derby, also known as the “greatest two minutes in sports,” there’s more to Louisville than one horse race. With its hip bourbon scene (including microdistilleries), fine dining and emerging East Market District, also known as NuLu, Louisville may just be the new Portland, Oregon. Reid said. Consider exploring the city via the Urban Bourbon Trail for a powerful introduction to Kentucky’s famous spirit."

There's No Place Like Louisville: You Know You're From Louisville if...

    • Your “International” airport has only one passenger flight that actually leaves the 48 contiguous U.S. states.
    • The in-state sports rivalry is paid more attention to than the national championship.
    • You live in an area that occasionally gets considerable snowfalls, floods, and tornadoes … but…

While visiting my best friend in Kentucky I had the amazing opportunity to go hiking in the Red River Gorge. The lush deciduous forest and gently rolling mountain landscapes were a beautiful contrast to the mountains I’ve grown accustomed to out west.

Check out these beautiful photos from Red River Gorge, a favorite summer destination for city-weary Louisvillians every year. It’s only two hours from Louisville metro in Stanton, Kentucky, and has options for everyone, from casual nature-lovers to driven outdoorsmen. Plus it offers the opportunity to snag a t-shirt from Miguel’s Pizza and be in with all the cool kids.

According to the blog Big East Coast Bias, Louisville Cardinals head football coach Charlie Strong had the urinals in Louisville’s football facility adorned with brand new University of Kentucky logos.

UK vs. UofL rages on, even in the off-season.

Who went to the RHCP concert at the Yum! Center last night? Did you know the band had not performed in Louisville since 1987?

    Theatre [502]'s "Futura" is now

Futura is the story of four resistance fighters on a crusade to save books and writing. In the not-so-distant world of the play, the shift from print to screen happens first, when paper and books are outlawed. The government then assumes control of all books and written material and consolidates them into one master file.

Humana Festival favorite Jordan Harrison has written a fantastic new dystopian fable, which is being presented by Theatre [502] at Actor’s Theatre this month June. Have you seen it yet? Will you see it?
